Hellboy Book Club Episode 17: B.P.R.D. War On Frogs and Lost Lives
With the Froggie plague well and truly running amok in downtown the World, only our brave and heroic B.P.R.D. agents can truly bring about change. But, will they?
Yes they will. Here’s a comic about it.
The Hellboy Book Club moves into the second half of the B.P.R.D. Omnibus set, with Frogs Gone Wild and in need of a smack. At this point, the stage for the whole grand B.P.R.D. series is in motion, and can’t be stopped. It’s up to Liz, Abe, Johann, and everlovin’ Rodger to stomp them out. Will the team learn to work with the gruff and abrasive Ben Daimio? Will there be even more new characters you’ll quickly grow to care about? You bet your frog stompin’ ass.
On a side note, the War on Frogs line has some of the best covers of all time, so all five will be represented in this article. All covers by Mike Mignola.
This week, the Book Club also covers issue #15 of the Abe Sapien solo series, Lost Lives (pictured below). The internals of this one have some of the most beautiful and polished art in the history of comics, and the story is pretty intense. Get used to the gut punchery, because it never really slows down from this point.
The Hellboy Book Club releases new episodes every Tuesday, and is working their way through the entire Mignolaverse reading list. Find the current episode right here on PodBean.
